Battle of Waterloo - 23 June 2024

Spanish Australian Club grounds Narrabundah, a fine and sunny -4-degree morning
turned into a great day.
About 100 vehicles turned up for the event, slightly down on past years, but it did
mean no parking issues. I did note several cars parked as to retreat from the
dastardly French onslaught (Jags and others, not Triumphs).
The Spanish Aust club volunteered to provide the food and drink for the event and
kept up with the queues very well throughout the day. The adjacent German
Harmonie club also held a market day, which provided an alternative to the cars on
display and a variety of food and drink.
Organisers Jack (Triumph club) and Guy (Antique and Classic club) chose the
awards for the day, with the MG club taking away the Club award. Most interesting
vehicle awards went to the 1923 Talbot Darraque 1st place, the 1948 Riley in 2nd
place and the Trabant 3rd place. Bottles of Spanish wine were awarded to the vehicle
owners. Obviously still plenty of room for Triumph awards in coming years (slight hint
there).
2025 will be the 210th anniversary of the Battle. so we will need to review our
strategies.
Particular thanks to the Spanish Australian club for the venue, and their members
who volunteered to help out. Finally, thanks to all who attended. Cheers, Jack
and Guy.
