Mid-week Lunch Run - Cafe Woodworks, Bungendore - 30 June 2022

An understandable mix-up over the change from a Wednesday to a Thursday run and a late onset of cold symptoms reduced our number to nine keen starters.  It’s only a short run from Queanbeyan to Bungendore and we arrived right on mid-day for lunch at the Café Woodworks.

A long table was set up for us Triumph enthusiasts and we chose the end closest to the widow where we enjoyed a measure of natural sunlight.  The very friendly and helpful staff were quick off the mark and ready to take our orders.  The café menu along with the “specials” board offered a good range of lunch fare and after placing food and drinks orders we settled in for some interesting conversations, including on the pending transition to electric powered vehicles.

We enjoyed a return to this popular venue which had remained either closed or offering only takeaway service during most of the COVID lockdown period.  Quite apart from the great company of fellow Triumph tragics, fine food, excellent service and a pleasant warm environment made for a most enjoyable lunch.

I should add that we had good turnout of 60s and 70s classic cars, mostly Triumphs of course, but Mark and Maureen Penglase’s very nice 1964 Mercedes 230SL Pagoda certainly wasn’t out of place.
