Falling Leaf Festival at Tumut. April 2025
What a great few days! The local paper said over 5000 people came to Tumut to see our 5 Triumphs in the street parade. Apparently, there were also other things to see and do!
Anzac day afternoon saw the Wades' Stag, Lloyds' Sedan, Gaults' TR3a, Armarego's TR7 and the Tink-Doble TR5 accompanied by the Mouser Subaru, all Vehicles fully crewed, head to Bookham for a cuppa and then on to Tumut to the motel.
Dinner was at the Wing Cheng restaurant. about a 100 metre walk away. Guess what type of food. Back to the motel for an early night, although the thin walls and bad neighbours made for a sleepless night. Ask Trevor and Daryl for details!
Saturday street parade marshalling started at 11.30 am and took until 1 pm before the parade started. Participants ranged from car clubs (ours and Gundagai, and 22 local minis all owned by one chap), Ulysses motorbike club, schools and preschools, a Falun Gong brass band, local pipe band and several other local groups. 40 or more street stalls and buskers, etc., provided general interest for the rest of the afternoon. The Tumut Rodeo was also on at the nearby park and provided a few characters amongst the people viewing.
Sunday saw a get together for a late breakfast cuppa at the Riverside Café, a lovely spot to stroll or drive along to. Unfortunately, the famous straw broom factory was closed and so after a perusal of the visitors' centre, it was a light lunch at the Tumut River Brewery, another worthwhile spot to visit.
Finally, we split up for an uneventful run back to Canberra. Thanks to all who attended; this will definitely be on the events calendar for 2026.
Cheers, Jenny and Jack.
(Hold the date May 1st to 3rd 2026.)
