Mid-week Lunch Run - Loaded Dog Hotel, Tarago - 27 October 2022

Pot holes ahead!  Straddle them or move to the centre of the road across the double lines?  That was the question often faced by Triumph drivers as we headed from Queanbeyan to Tarago for lunch at the Loaded Dog Hotel.  An added challenge, particularly for Mike Ford in his open top TR3A, was presented by passing heavy rain showers.

Thanks to advance advice on road conditions from David Rouse, we avoided the direct route along the Tarago Road from Bungendore and continued along the Kings Highway, then turned left along Goulburn Road to Tarago.  Although the Kings Highway had suffered some severe rain damage, Goulburn Road tested our slalom driving skills.  Road repair crews were on site doing their best to patch pot holes.

Anyhow, a small but committed group of Triumph enthusiasts enjoyed lunch at the historic Loaded Dog Hotel.  Mike and the Wades were joined by locals David Rouse and Phil Robinson.  Conversation ranged from the local road conditions to shearing alpacas, with David giving an update on the condition of the Tarago Road.  Recent rain damage compounded by heavy truck use has rendered the road not very Triumph friendly!

A stopover for coffee and cake at Café Woodworks in Bungendore ended a pleasant lunch run for driver and passenger in the green Stag.
